About Appledore

Appledore is a historic fishing village in North Devon with winding narrow streets and colourful houses, Appledore is full of maritime history as it sits at the confluence of the Taw and Torridge rivers with lovely views across to Instow. Tourists and travellers will love the chance to explore by taking the seasonal ferry over to the neighbouring Instow for a day trip.

The village is built on a tradition of fishing and boat building which still continues today. For centuries, Appledore was an important shipbuilding centre for the region and because of this is home to the North Devon Maritime Museum.

SCHOOL TRIP OUT TO HOGWARTSYes this weekend a group of Applebanders joined many others from across the South West for the South West Brass Band Association mid winter workshop.WHAT an experience!!! We all met up in the great hall for an introduction to the tooter tutors and a run through of the program to warm up.Christopher Bond, Tom Smith and Siôn Rhys Jones were our expert panel (look them up….they’re really not bad! 😉🤣) After that came the sorting into sectionals, lots of tea, coffee and amazing food from our lovely team of ladies (and Bazza…..honorary dinner lady for the weekend) and then a short concert to round off the weekend.Many thanks to all who attended and a massive Appledore big up to our very own Keith for doing most of the donkey work to organise such a valuable weekend of banding.Well done all! 👏👏👏👏👏@top fans The GUS Band Tredegar Town Band Brighouse and Rastrick Band BBC Radio 2 BBC Devon The Jeremy Vine The Voice ...
