About Appledore

Appledore is a historic fishing village in North Devon with winding narrow streets and colourful houses, Appledore is full of maritime history as it sits at the confluence of the Taw and Torridge rivers with lovely views across to Instow. Tourists and travellers will love the chance to explore by taking the seasonal ferry over to the neighbouring Instow for a day trip.

The village is built on a tradition of fishing and boat building which still continues today. For centuries, Appledore was an important shipbuilding centre for the region and because of this is home to the North Devon Maritime Museum.

We don’t often do individual birthday posts but tonight’s rehearsal was special….. all about the Appledore Band team spirit.One of our most promising players turned 50 this week and so the red hymn books came out half an hour early and we had a party for our Bandmaster.What can we say about Michelle Copp?Well she’s got a reasonable tone, is quite a good sight reader and her organisational skills are definitely coming on, well done you!(Please pray for my safety, I’m going to be in such trouble 🤣)Appledore Band….the funny, happy, skilled bunch of lovelies who wouldn’t know what to do without their BM.(Yes Pete….we’ll do a post when you get to 90) ... 🎺☀️WE ARE BACK ON THE QUAY! ☀️ 🎺 What an evening…..there were supporters a -plenty and a lovely big band to entertain them.There were two birthdays this week and no detentions!
